ABOUT US

Balak Drishti™ is a unique triple bottom line company with emphasis on Profit, People and Planet

OVERVIEW

Global Issue of Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE)

Being able to see clearly is as basic of a need as food, water, shelter, internet, access to affordable health care and having a phone. Blindness is #1 disability on the planet ( World Report on Vision and Lancet Report).

239M children (950M people) in the world have Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE) but their families cannot afford to buy them a simple pair of glasses. 20% of the 239M children are in India. Global cost of lost productivity due to myopia is estimated at $244 Billions.

Restoring Sight through Refractive Correction (URE) is one of the most efficient ways to alleviate poverty.

Children with Uncorrected Refractive Error (which means they need glasses) cannot even see the black board in the class or read the road signs. The world around them is nothing but a World of Blur. They cannot see the stars, the Milky Way, the mountains, or the birds we all with proper vision take for granted.

  • URE affects their learning ability and brain/cognitive development.
  • They are 3 times more likely to fall behind the class.
  • They become societal liability and create safety hazard.

VISION & MISSION

Vision

Not one child (Age 0-18 years) on this planet should be prevented from getting an education because his/her family cannot afford a simple pair of prescription glasses.

Mission

Our mission is to provide “Clear Vision” affordably for children with greatest need.
